A permanent move for Houssem Aouar will solve Arsenal’s lack of creativity.
Arsenal Academy starlet – Emile Smith-Rowe would benefit from having Houssem Aouar , let’s break down the possibilities:
- Arsenal as a club need to finish in the top 6 this season and that would be a win
- Smith-Rowe is young and needs guidance
- With Ozil on the brink of a move to Turkey
- Houssem Aouar would be a direct answer with Thomas Partey as CDM
Arsenal seems to be addressing all positions, they started with the defence. Mari and Gabriel can have a great partnership and if you are not convinced Holding is the perfect partner for either centre-backs. Let’s not forget William Saliba who is highly rated but has not started a game this season and has been loaned out to Nice for the remainder of the season.
The left-back position is still an issue not because Kieran Tierney is bad, on the contrary, he is proving to be the best LB since Ashely Cole but there is no serious backup for him. Saka can play in that position and has proven to be versatile but is not a long term answer.
Right-back is a position is that owned by Hector Bellerin but that sometimes seems to be a given and he needs competition. Maitland-Niles is good back up but not long term.
Having said that Arsenal needs a creative player to feed the front three, which Arteta has not yet figured out who slots in there. We have had a combination of Auba, Laca and Pepe, Auba, Laca and Willian, Auba, Laca and Saka and Auba, Laca, and Nelson. Agreeably, Auba, Laca and Saka seem to be the best combination with Smith-Rowe feeding them with the right weighted ball.
Smith-Rowe is still very raw and needs Premier League experience – Unai Emery was right to send the 19-year-old to the Bundesliga but got injured during his time there.
Houssem Aouar would solve the problem in short to long term with the position needing competition between the club’s creative players. PSG and Man City are in the race to sign him too.
Let’s not forget that Dani Ceballos is also a player who can dictate games when he is in the mood and also with the EURO 2020 around the corner all these players need to prove themselves.
Rumour mills have begun with Ozil on the verge of leaving Arsenal and the wage bill reduced, Arsenal could have a good end to a season that saw them have the worst start since the 1970s.
